LIFETIME REPAIR

Kantha gets more and more beautiful as it becomes older and smaller. It is an endless game. Kantha by nature is art of layering of textiles. The articulate use of threads bind the vintage layering for ever.

Our love for recycling old Indian cotton and silk sari has resulted in bringing about this extra ordinary beautiful collection. These gorgeous textiles not only become more beautiful with every use but remains with you like collectibles.

Over time, there might be a hole or the fabric torns, but the layer beneath holds and support the top layer.
In case you want that defect to be repaired, we offer a ‘Lifetime Repair’ along with the product.

Mieko Mintz encourages Reuse, Repair and Recycle.

HOW TO REPAIR YOUR ITEM

If you are interested in repairing a beloved Mieko Mintz garment, first of all, please feel free to email online@miekomintz.com to organize an assessment. This service is bespoke just for you. We will advise detailed plan for you.

KANTHA

KANTHA means simple stitching in Hindi. For more than 400 years, KANTHA quilts have been made in Bengal, India using many layers of old saris. Each is unique.

HOME CARE INSTRUCTION

Hand Wash

Use a delicate care detergent in cold water without soaking, as this might release some dye. Press and wash without rubbing. Rinse the Kantha garment without wringing.

Machine Wash

Use a delicate care detergent in cold water, placing the Kantha garment in a mesh bag and washing it with a low-spin or delicate cycle. This will prevent snagging or twisting during the machine cycles.

Dry

Place the Kantha garment on a large, dry towel and roll it up to absorb excess moisture. Then lay the garment flat on a drying rack or hang it to air dry.

Hand Steamer / Iron

A hand steamer would be ideal, but if you are using an iron, avoid holding it directly against the garment and applying pressure. Keep the iron a few inches away from the garment and use only steam pressure.
